Bring Nature Inside

Bring Nature Inside

Getting outside is a great way for our mind and body to be refreshed.  The simple act of standing in the sun can promote the production of vitamin D which, according to studies conducted at Harvard University, can reduce your risk of depression, osteoporosis, heart disease, and even cancer.  But if you can’t get outside bringing plants into your workspace or home can be a great way to experience the healing power of nature. Plants can brighten up the room along with improving your health. Plants in hospital rooms have been shown to speed the healing process, they help stabilize humidity levels, and purify the air.

According to experts at Harvard Medical School as little as ten minutes of exercise a day can change your brain chemistry and start improving your life.

Getting Organized

Getting Organized

Is your home an oasis, or source of stress? Science shows that outer order contributes to inner calm. But as much as we want to keep our home, office, and car in reasonable order, it can be tough. Experts emphasize taking small steps towards organizing your environment. To add order to your bedroom, make the bed – or at least pull up the covers and smooth them out. Before you start alphabetizing your spice rack, make sure you still need all those spices in the first place. Finding control over your stuff can help you feel more in control of your life.

Quality Rest

Quality Rest

The benefit of being a morning person is not just higher productivity but also better health. Studies show that people who go to bed and get up earlier are less likely to suffer from chronic diseases like hypertension and heart disease.

If you have trouble feeling refreshed and ready for your day try cutting out snacks before bed, turn off your television for a half an hour before you lay down and of course do your best to get to bed a half hour earlier. Your time will be better spent and your body will thank you for it.

Unfortunately, many people are living with chronic inflammation; a condition brought on by stress, fatigue and poor diet. This condition is the first step towards diseases like osteoporosis, heart disease and cancer. Small choices like going to bed a little earlier or eating a salad instead of a side of french-fries can make a big difference in the way you feel today and your health tomorrow.
