Power Outage Update

Updated: Wednesday, February 27 2013, 07:43 PM EST
The icy weather that swept across the mountains yesterday is still causing problems for hundreds of people today.

Power remains a problem in some areas more than 24-hours later.
In Saluda this morning, crews have been working to re-string power and cable lines that came down during yesterday's storm.

The power was cut after a tree snapped, probably from a combination of ice and wind, and it came crashing down near a line of utility poles.

The power line was replaced sometime overnight.  Today it's getting cable wires reconnected.

This kind of work is being done across Polk and Henderson counties, these jobs are more scattered after yesterday's widespread outages.

Todays warm sunshine has melted most of the ice on roads, but some shady spots are still slick, So you still need to be careful there.
