North Carolina residents who need an attorney's help but can't afford a consultation have an opportunity to chat for free. The Young Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association is sponsoring what it calls "Ask a Lawyer Day" on Saturday in nine cities across the state. Anyone who wants to discuss specific legal issues or the legal system in general can sign up for one-on-one meetings that are free of charge.

In Asheville the clinics are offered  Saturday, February 2, 2013, 10am-1pm at The Grove Arcade, One Page Avenue in Downtown Asheville and Saturday, February 2, 2013, 2pm-4:30pm at the Henderson County Public Library (Kaplan Auditorium), 301 North Washington Street Downtown in Hendersonville.

If you're planning a big move, you might want to consider using it as an opportunity to help those in need. Several local movers, including Allied, participate in a nationwide program to help the needy. They collect pantry items from folks who are packing up and moving away and donate them to local food pantries. Since 2009, the program has collected more than a million pounds of food for donations.
