Hendersonville is looking for new life along an historic corridor. City leaders are joining forces with an advisory committee to bring redevelopment to 7th Avenue.

They met to come up with ideas to keep old and empty buildings from being demolished. They'd like to see them fixed up to attract new business, and people.

"There's then trying to find good solid businesses to move into those buildings and then of course compliment these areas with some aesthetics and streetscaping and stuff that help to draw people," says Carson Calton.

Calton runs his business, City Tire, not far away and heads up the advisory committee. He says with the City of Hendersonville on board, there's more momentum to bring improvements. That could include tax breaks for businesses locating on 7th Avenue. He says city leaders are taking all ideas and making a priority list and eventually will formalize a plan.
