A needle in a haystack, that can help save lives. Finding a medical match, critical in the treatment of blood cancers.

Volunteers at Grace United Methodist Church in Asheville, held a bone marrow donor drive Saturday morning, asking healthy people between the ages of 18 and 55, to sign up. The bone marrow registry can be far-reaching.

"This is our way to pay this forward because we don't know who it is. Is it someone who we sit next to at church, at the movie theater, at the grocery store, is it somebody on the other side of the world that we'll never have contact with?" says Coordinator Gail Sherman.

The sign-up process is simple. It just takes a swab of the cheek for potential donors to find out if they're a match for a cancer patient somewhere.Bone Marrow Donor Drive
