A Charlotte man is facing multiple charges after police say he led them on a high-speed pursuit through Hendersonville, Monday night.

Police say Rodney Sowell, 29, turned from Harris Street right onto Fourth Avenue and then went all across King St., Main Street and Church Street before heading south out of town turning around and coming back into town.

Finally, police say, his car gave out at the Fresh Market parking lot.

Sowell faces multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.

Capt. Bruce Simonds with the Hendersonville Police Department says several officers were in pursuit, but one officer eventually caught Sowell.

All things considered, the chase had a good outcome even for Sowell, who has a lengthy record, according to police.

"Later on he thanked us for not escalating the use of force when it may have been a tragedy for him," Capt. Simonds said.

Sowell is being held in the Henderson County detention facility on a $250,000 bond.

The other man who is from Hendersonville is cooperating with police.
