Donating wings, to help a child's spirit soar. A local non-profit's recruiting aviators who fly sick children to hospitals across the country.

The organization is called Pilots for Christ and they're going above and beyond to give back.

Ruffin Benton, pilot, "if they pay me to fly, my office would be a hangar instead of a medical office."

Ruffin Benton isn't making any money off these flights, in fact, he's shouldering the $350 an hour it costs to get these kids up in the air, "people need help, I like to help, I'm a doctor during my day job and this is an extension of that ministry you could say."

Asheville has the only chapter of Pilots for Christ in the Carolinas.

In addition to flying sick children free-of-charge, the group also transports missionaries around the world.Pilots for Christ
