SUPER BOWL-NYC PARADE
NEW YORK (AP) -- New York is giving Big Blue a Big Apple welcome tomorrow. New York City will honor the Super Bowl champion Giants with a ticker-tape parade and ceremony at City Hall. Mayor Michael Bloomberg will also give the Giants the Keys to the City. Bloomberg says the Giants gave New Yorkers a game to remember, so New York will give them a parade to remember. The Giants beat the Patriots yesterday 21-17.
SUPER BOWL-OHIO DOUGHNUTS
CANFIELD, Ohio (AP) -- Perhaps the doughnuts deserve some of the credit. The New York Giants got some special doughnuts in team colors before the Super Bowl. They were ordered by the mother-in-law of Giants center Jim Cordle. The doughnuts are a local favorite in northeast Ohio and come from the White House Fruit Farm. Owner Debbie Pifer (PY'-fur) says she also donated 10 dozen to the effort. Pifer says she's gotten pictures of team members enjoying the doughnuts over the weekend. And the experience has turned her family into avid Giants fans. The Giants beat the Patriots 21-17 in yesterday's Super Bowl.
DISNEY OR ARUBA?
UNDATED (AP) -- "We're going to Aruba!" It's not quite like going to Disney World after the Super Bowl. But the Aruba Tourism Authority has an offer for the team that loses the big game. The Aruba offer includes an all-expenses-paid trip to the Caribbean island. The free trip pitch was made before yesterday's Super Bowl, which, of course, the New York Giants won 21-17. No word if the New England Patriots will be taking up the tourist board on the Aruba freebie.
POLAR BEAR PLUNGE
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) -- There wasn't much polar to this year's Polar Bear Plunge. Nearly 3,700 people took a dip in the Atlantic at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, yesterday. The water temperature was 47 degrees, the warmest ever for the event. The plunge raises money for the Special Olympics. Organizers say they brought in more than $650,000 this year. Over the past 21 years, the plunge people say they've collected more than $6 million.
