Comforting Children in Need

Updated: Monday, November 4 2013, 08:20 PM EST
Some local quilters are reaching out to the community to cover some kids with love and security.

School buses, puppies, kittens and a princess or two.  These children at Jones Elementary School in Asheville were picked to choose a colorful quilt of their choice.

The beautiful blankets were made by members of the Asheville Quilters Guild.  The washable, durable quilts are a gift to the children so they can always cover themselves with love.

So far, the Asheville Quilters Guild made 578 quilts.

The group has made quilts for groups and organizations like the Linus Project, Mission Hospital and the Veterans Hospital.

They've even made "critter quilts" for Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.Comforting Children in Need
