Fire Prevention Month

Updated: Thursday, October 10 2013, 08:51 PM EDT
From calling 9-1-1, to where to meet, mountain students discover what they should do if they are faced with fire.  All in an effort to keep kids safe.

They're passing the hat this morning at Hall Fletcher Elementary school.

Asheville firefighters like Aaron Lunsford are here to teach children about fire safety.
The kindergarteners get to check out the gear and the fire trucks.  They even go inside a mobile safety house and see how a towel can be a fire hazard in the kitchen.

Firefighters say the goal is for the children to share the information with their parents and to work as a family to plan an escape and meeting place in case of an emergency.Fire Prevention Month
