On December 1st, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat.
Her act of defiance and the bus boycott that followed became important symbols of the modern civil rights movement.
As you'll see in our Never Stop Learning report, children are still talking about it today.
First graders at Emmanuel Lutheran School in asheville are renacting what happened 58 years ago in Montgomery, Alabama.
The school is holding it's annual history fair later this week and each grade level will present a dramatization of an historical event.
Director Chris Martin is an artist in residence at the school.
He says the trip back in time teaches lessons that still apply today
And this is the first rehearsal for these second graders who are giving us an oral history of the Oregon Trail.
Other students are learning about Native Americans and the Wright Brothers.
Teachers say the plays are designed to go along with each grade levels standard course of study.
