Homemade Robots, Mission to Mars

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 10:18 PM EDT
Get your robots ready.... we're ready to race!

In today's Never Stop Learning report, it's an imaginary mission in mars.
7th graders at Carolina Day School are racing against each other and the clock.

They designed and built these space rovers as part of their science assignment.

They're using blue tooth technology to control the vehicles.
Most of the robots are working very well not, but that hasn't always been the case.

Earlier prototypes didn't "make the grade", which is fine because the students say it taught them that failure is just a set back, not an excuse to quit.

The project also involves a lot of team work.  The students continuously change groups so everyone has the opportunity to work together.

They say it takes a lot of problem solving skills and patience to design the robots but once it rolls and completes it's task, the feeling of accomplishment is very satisfying.Homemade Robots, Mission to Mars
