Leader In Me

Updated: Tuesday, November 5 2013, 07:55 PM EST
Students at one mountain elementary are celebrating their success with becoming a "Leader In Me" at school.

The Leader In Me is a school-wide program that develops leaders with 21st century skills, with teachers use the "7 habits of highly successful people" as their guide.

Teacher Julie Holbert is "Captain Habit", a super hero of sorts.  This mornings she's helping her third graders with habit number two, which is to "begin with the end in mind."

They also learn a new word each week, write it in their journals, and then talk about how they can use that character trait in their lives.

Down the hall, first graders are setting short term academic and personal goals.

Teachers hope the students at Sugarloaf Elementary school find the leader within.

The Leader In Me program is funded through a national grant.

And you may have noticed the beautiful artwork in the hallways, a local McDonald's in Henderson County donated the money to make that happen.Leader In Me
