The baby giraffe born Monday night at the Greenville Zoo made its public debut Wednesday.
At a news conference, the zoo director revealed that the calf is a boy and that he's been given the name Kiko. Kiko, he says, is swahili for Autumn's child. The 5 ft. 8 in. baby's mother is named Autumn.
Kiko's appearance drew a big crowd including many who'd been following the Giraffe pregnancy on the internet. An estimated 200,000 people saw the birth via web cam.
Kiko could eventually grow to be 16 feet tall. He had his first neonatal visit and the zoo director says the calf appears to be perfectly healthy.
