A local school raises thousands of dollars to help one of their teacher's who's newborn had to have emergency brain surgery. Jennifer Pittman's baby, Braxxon, got sick four weeks after he was born. Doctor's discovered he had a brain aneurysm.
West Marion Elementary stepped up in a big way to help. Not only did their constant thoughts and prayers pull the Pittman's through all of this, but their fundraiser is providing some financial relief as well.
Jennifer Pittman calls baby Braxxon her little miracle baby. After spending two weeks in the hospital, he's home and doing much better. But his visit is going to cost the kindergarten teacher and her husband a lot of money.
That's why students, faculty and staff wanted to help. They decided to hold a caterpillar fundraiser to help pay Braxxon's medical bills. The community also pitched in. More than 800 yellow and green circles were sold. The overwhelming support now lines the hallways at west marion elementary school.
Pittman says it's unbelievable to see that so many people care.
"Its been a blessing just the way everybody in the community and even outside, I've had people from outside the county we live in they've called, they've sent messages. Its just been a blessing how everybody pulled together and helped us. It really has," said Pittman.
More than $3,000 was raised. It's a huge amount since baby Braxxon isn't out of the woods yet. Braxxon will have to undergo several more tests to determine whether he has anymore aneurysms.
