Mountain Artist Explains Why He Draws Faces Of Afghanistan

A mountain artist hopes his work gives us a better understanding of a war-torn country.


Artist Skip Rohde's "Faces of Afghanistan" is an exhibit at UNC Asheville that includes dozens of sketches of people he met wile working for the State Department. He had amazing access to his subjects in the Kandahar Province. He began drawing the people he saw.


His exhibit, "Faces of Afghanistan" opens next Friday. You can see those sketches at Tucker Cook Gallery at Owen Hall through November 27th.
