Victim's Family Reacts To Mistrial

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 09:21 PM EDT

After nearly two days of deliberations, a mistrial is declared in a Henderson County murder trial. Jermaine Glover was charged with murdering his pregnant girlfriend, 21-year-old Misty Carter in 2009. Prosecutors say he killed her with blow to the head, then set her body on fire and dumped it along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The jury told the judge they were hopelessly deadlocked. After nearly 12 hours of deliberation, four jurors thought Glover was guilty of first degree murder. Two jurors thought he was guilty of second degree murder. Six said he's not guilty at all.

39-year-old Glover was arrested and charged with his ex-girlfriend's murder in 2010. He has maintained innocence and even taking the stand in his own defense. Glover's attorney Greg Newman says a mistrial is neither victory nor defeat.

Unless Glover can post bail, he will remain in jail until the case goes to trial again.

Misty Carter's father, Billy Carter, says his family has waited three years to bring her killer to justice and they will continue to wait.
