Updated: Tuesday, November 19 2013, 06:13 PM ESTA Mills River couple says they are heartbroken after losing a family heirloom in transit. On August 30th, Roger and Becki Benfield sent their daughter-in-law Melissa her wedding ring U.P.S, after she accidentally left it with them on a family vacation. Becki says she insured the ring for $10,000, paying $200 to do so. The ring never made it to Melissa in Dallas. U.P.S. records show it disappeared at the Knoxville hub.The Benefields say their claim was denied due to lack of documentation. Roger says the 70-year-old 2 karat ring from Melissa's grandmother was never appraised. There was no insurance rider, and of the two stores that serviced the ring, one burned down and the other's computer failed. Tracy Spahr of U.P.S. says everyone insuring a package signs a form that states proof of value is required. However, the Benefields say that was not made clear to them. They hope others learn from their mistake, especially with the holiday shipping season ramping up.by Karen WynneU.P.S. Ring Lost
