Special Report: Tennis Teen Finds Formula

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 10:23 PM EDT
Rutherford County middle schooler Conner Stroud has found the formula to overcome anything.

He turns heads everywhere he goes, but especially on the tennis court.

Conner was born with no femurs. He stands three feet tall, which is as tall as the net on the court.

At three feet tall... He's about as tall as the net. Conner prefers to play without prosthetics and opponents simply marvel.

"They're so amazed," says Conner."I guess they haven't seen it and don't know what to think."

His mother, Rita Stroud, is also his tennis coach.

"Everybody will remember you more than the best player," she advises her son. "He's just different."

Conner competes in tournaments and often wins. He'll eventually start playing wheelchair tennis.

"I mean we all have a disability... a chip on your shoulder..." Rita says. "Most people's disability you just can't see."
