On Sunday, January 27, 2013, officers from the Brevard Police Department and the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office responded to a residential area in Brevard after an alert resident noticed what he believed to be two males breaking into a car.
Both agencies have been investigating a series of car break-ins that have occurred over the past few weeks.
Officers from both agencies arrived quickly and were assisted by off-duty officers that also responded.
Upon the arrival of law enforcement, both suspects fled the area on foot.
One suspect was apprehended after a brief foot chase.
The second suspect was apprehended a short time later after being located by a Sheriff's Office K9.
The suspects are identified as Kevin Anthony Harmer, 22 of Brevard and Charles Eugene "CJ" Moore, 20 of Brevard.
Each suspect is charged with Felony Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny and both are currently being held in the Transylvania County Detention Facility under a $40,000 secured bond.
Transylvania County Sheriff David Mahoney said, "The response and teamwork from both agencies was amazing. A lot of hard work has gone into investigating these cases and a lot of hard work remains to be done. There is no question that these arrests are the result of a great partnership between local law enforcement and the community we serve."
Numerous additional charges are expected to be filed shortly.
