Accident Involving Chief's Son Under Investigation

Updated: Thursday, March 14 2013, 06:50 PM EDT

New details in a wreck involving Asheville Police Chief William Anderson's son. Chad Anderson was in the car, which was registered to his father, when a mystery driver crashed into a median in Montford and ran away.

News 13 obtained exclusive pictures of  the car taken moments after the crash Saturday. Anderson maintains someone he knows only as "Diante" was driving and left the scene before police arrived.

A witness has come forward saying he's not sure who the driver was partly because of the car's tinted windows. The late night wreck has raised eyebrows and led to an SBI investigation.

Chad Anderson has been charged with failure to report an accident in a timely manner. Chief Anderson declined further comment citing the ongoing investigation.
