The blizzard in the northeastern U.S. is causing flight cancellations and delays at the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, among others. While many flights were cancelled early, giving passengers plenty of warning, several travlers say it's been a nightmare. Dwight Winfrey just bought a home in the region. He was headed back north for one last time before moving. But, Winfrey's United Airlines flight to Buffalo was cancelled. Winfrey is scheduled to leave GSP Saturday morning and return to Buffalo through Chicago by 4:00 p.m. He says it's frustrating, because his airline is not comping him a hotel room, rental car, or food.
Right now, the Asheville Regional Airport is not offering flights to cities impacted by the blizzard. However, any connecting flights to the northeast from Charlotte or Atlanta could be delayed or cancelled. GSP Airport spokeswoman Rosylin Weston encourages all passengers to contact their airline before traveling to the airport, and give themselves plenty of time.
