All Eyes On Henderson Co. Streams
Updated: Wednesday, January 16 2013, 05:25 PM EST
Heavy rain and several downpours have saturated the ground and caused creeks to rise. In Henderson County, the light rain and drizzle have been steady for more than two days. Workers at Haus Heidelberg Restaurant in Hendersonville say they are on guard as they watch for signs that Mud Creek may overflow. So far, no serious signs of high water.
Emergency workers are watching stream monitors for any signs of creeks leaving their banks. Weather radar can also give them advance warning of approaching downpours and give them time to mobilize. There's no reports of flooded or blocked roads at this time.
Rescue workers say heavy rains also cause traffic accidents when drivers hydroplane and lose control of their cars. They say drivers should slow down to avoid.
