Convenience Store Armed Robbery

Updated: Thursday, February 14 2013, 07:27 PM EST

Canton police are looking for the woman who held up a convenience store at knifepoint Wednesday night. Surveillance video captured the robbery about 8:30 p.m. at the Smokey Express store on Newfound Street.

Investigators say a woman wearing a blue hoodie and orange face mask, climbed onto the counter and used a knife to threaten the clerk and demand money from the cash register. The clerk called 911 and wasn't hurt. The suspect ran off, but not before dropping her knife and leaving it behind.

She’s described as having a dark complexion, in her early twenties, around five feet tall, and walks with a limp. It is unknown if she had a vehicle waiting.

Investigators are sharing this information with neighboring authorities who are looking for female suspects in recent bank robberies. If you have any information, contact the Canton Police Department at (828) 648-2376.
