Assault Weapons Ban Debate
Updated: Tuesday, January 8 2013, 01:55 PM EST
A group in the mountains calls for one county to ban assault weapons sales.
The Department of Peace and Nonviolence Advocates went before Henderson County Commissioners Monday night. Members asked for a ban on all assault weapons and ammunition clips, equipped to hold more than ten rounds. There was also a staunch pro-gun crowd speaking out against the proposal.
After taking comment, the commission chairman said federal gun laws apply locally and that no action will be taken.
