Snowfall followed by a quick dip in temperatures puts the big chill on mountain communities and keeps some roads slick. Homeowners are battling the bitter cold to stay warm. As much as four inches fell in some mountain communities.
Jolene Brigmon prepared for the night by hauling in extra firewood. Her family keeps a large supply under cover to keep it dry. But not everyone was prepared for temperatures in the low 20’s.
Well water technicians hit the road Friday morning when homeowners found out there was no water in their faucets. Water lines are kept under plastic covers at the well head and sometimes they don’t have enough insulation to keep lines from freezing. Technicians say an extra $20 of insulation can avoid a $150 service call to make repairs.
