Canterbury Hills Evacuation

Rescuers evacuated more than 50 residents from a Candler assisted living home that's been a source of neighborhood complaints in recent years. Firefighters were called to Canterbury Hills Thursday evening where flames damaged a section of the facility.
Emergency officials called in extra firefighters and specially equipped medical buses to transport all of the home's residents to neighboring facilities after the building lost power. Damage was limited to an office area in a section of the building that did not house any residents. All of the residents made it out safely. One was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation and was released.
The owner says he hopes to have the damages repaired and residents back in their rooms within the week.
