City Employees Cope With Fatal Crash
Updated: Wednesday, December 19 2012, 03:56 PM EST
Asheville city employees are still coping with a tragic accident that critically injured an employee and killed a young girl last week.
Asheville City Public Works Director Cathy Ball was there at the scene that day. The driver drove off the road and went airborne. The car eventually landing on two city trucks hundreds of feet across and down into the Public Works parking area. City worker Bobby Edwards was hit. He is still in critical condition.
A cross memorial has been set up for 3-year-old Maddy where the car went off the road. A Maddie Jones memorial fund has also been set up at Wells Fargo Bank.
The investigation into the crash is still underway. Family members say her father, the driver, had a seizure moments before the wreck. Investigators say he was driving on a suspended license for DWI.
Charges are still pending in the case.
