Controversial Zoning Decision Delayed

A vote is delayed on a controversial zoning decision in Asheville. Developers want to rezone the property where a Harris Teeter is being built to allow for at least one business with a drive-thru. Neighbors there are afraid that drive-thru restaurants will bring too much traffic and unpleasant smells to the area. Because Mayor Terry Bellamy was not in attendance, developers asked that the vote be postponed until a full council can vote on it. Voting is planned to take place at the February 5th meeting.
