Defense Company Brings 53 Jobs

Dozens of new jobs are coming to Rutherford County.

Defense company Manroy Defense Systems, a division of Manroy USA, LLC, is moving into Spindale, bringing with it 53 new manufacturing jobs.

The company was started in Alabama in 2009 and has chosen a long-vacant facility on Yelton Street, near downtown Spindale, as a base to consolidate its corporate, production and distribution operations. Along with the new positions, renovations to prepare the facility are estimated to generate more than $600,000 in revenue locally.

Manroy Defense Systems is a small business owned by veterans that manufacturers weapons and parts including machine guns and mounts. It's a major supplier for the United States Department of Defense, with approximately $15 million in government contracts.

The company says it's aiming to hire locally.

Hiring will be handled through Division of Employment Security - Forest City Office. Open positions will be posted as they become available.
