Facebook Noise Complaints

Folks next to Facebook in Rutherford County would like a little peace and quiet.
Neighbors of the Forest City data center are upset with the noise the plant is producing. They're wanting the social media giant to silence their generators. The state of the art facility has giant back-up generators that kick-in during power failures. They're also tested on a regular basis and residents say they're as loud as a jet.
Facebook released this statement: "Facebook's Forest City data center strives to be a good neighbor. Our operations require that we sometimes test our generator, but we have restricted such tests to business hours: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Aside from periodic testing, generators are for as-needed use only and such instances are extraordinarily rare. Our team has also planted trees and shrubs to help mitigate the hum of the generator on those infrequent occasions when it's on."
Forest City's town manager also weighed in on the issue. He says Facebook is not violating any noise ordinances. Neighbors though still believe some sort of sound barrier needs to be put up.
