Fire Deemed Suspicious

Updated: Monday, February 24 2014, 09:27 PM EST
Flames engulf three mountain homes. Now 24 hours later, police are calling the fire suspicious. The blaze broke out along Tate Street near downtown Marion. It destroyed three homes in under three hours Sunday night.

Authorities believe it began in the back of one home that they say has been vacant for months. Neighbors that watched the blaze say the flames appeared to spread in thin trails from one structure to another.

"Then it began to move up the hill and we watched like a line of fire go straight to the car - the car caught on fire, then the mobile home caught on fire," said Ronald Carpenter.

There are no suspects at this time, but police say there are several people of interest.
