Floodwaters Block Henderson Co. Roads

Henderson and Transylvania counties dodged widespread snowfall, but a steady rainfall for several days left nearly nine backroads blocked by floodwaters.
Butler Bridge Road in Henderson County is flooded by the French Broad River. The NCDOT has barricaded the road off. Floodwaters made a small waterfall about two feet tall as it swept over the pavement. Emergency workers say thats enough of a fast-moving stream to push a small car off the road.
Despite the danger, several cars and trucks attempted the crossing. Residents News 13 talked with say no responsible person would try to drive across a flooded road. Deputies say theyre watching the road and can issue citations to people who drive around the blockades. Emergency workers urge everyone to slow down and watch these low spots carefully.
Floodwaters are beginning to recede along the French Broad River, but the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning that runs through Sunday evening.
