Haywood Road Plan

Updated: Tuesday, February 25 2014, 11:21 PM EST
The vision for the future of West Asheville becomes a bit clearer after Tuesday's city council meeting. Council members unanimously voted to adopt the Haywood Road vision plan. Their vote of confidence is a huge victory for those living and working in West Asheville.

For the past a decade, folks have spent countless hours coming up with ways to preserve what's already on a 2 and half mile stretch of Haywood Road. It's a culmination of ideas that will hopefully allow the main drag to handle the growth and development it's seeing now and will possibly see in the future.

Now that the vision plan has been accepted by city officials, the next step is to lay out all the ground rules with a form base code. A community meeting will be held March 27th at Hall Fletcher Elementary to view the initial draft of that form based code.Haywood Road Plan
