Two hikers missing since Saturday in Pisgah National Forest have been located safely.

A nearby landowner found the pair and drove them to rescue crews this morning.

Rescue workers resumed a search this morning for the pair after they did not return to the Asheville bed and breakfast they had been staying at while visiting from out of town.

Rescue Squad Chief Vince Stone confirmed that a man and a woman from out of state.

The hikers left Asheville, where they had been staying, and were reported missing around 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

Stone did not identify the individuals, but said from reports the two had gone hiking Saturday at John’s Rock.

About 15 squad members began searching the area at about midnight and around 12:30 a.m. the squad requested additional manpower to continue the search.

Rescuers called off the search at about 3 a.m. citing difficulty searching in the dark and having exhausted all of the “high priority” areas.
