Housing Market Up

Local Realtor Rowena Patton of the Patton Property Group says the housing market is recovering. She says her group has seen a more than 30% sales increase over last year, and many buyers are losing out because of multiple offers on homes.
This is good news for many at the 38th annual Home Lawn and Garden Show which opened at the U.S. Cellular Center today.
By midday, there was a steady stream of visitors like home sellers Gail Waugh and John Burn. Both are confident their homes will sell soon. So, they are moving on and looking for items for their new homes at the home show.
Vendors like George Triplett of Window World are expecting large crowds and big business this weekend. He says more people wanting to re-model their homes will lead to more sales on doors and windows. Many items at the show are eco-friendly, like DRA Living's modular homes.
Kendra Turner of DRA Living says the homes are known for being energy efficient, but many don't know they can also withstand winds up to 150 mph.
Race car driver John Andretti and his Stinger race car are a special feature at the home show. The Stinger has racecar drivers signatures dating back to 1949. Andretti will be giving away model cars and raising money for St. Judes Children's Hospital from 12pm-4pm on Saturday.
