Leicester War On Crime

A mountain community declares war on crime. Since the beginning of January, there have been 27 breaking and enterings in the Leicester area.
Dozens of community members filled the Leicester Volunteer Fire Department Tuesday night. Some of the people in the audience were actual victims of these recent break-ins. The Leicester Crime Prevention Group called the meeting. They shared ways that property owners can prevent criminal activity happening to them.
The groups organizer, Chad Nesbitt, had security alarm professionals speak, as well as self defense experts and carry and coneal trainers. He's hoping the meeting puts the criminals on notice.
Detectives have a special task force designated to Leicester. Community members were able to share information with the detectives.
Out of the 27 breaking and entering incidents, five arrests have been made. The hope is after Tuesday's meeting, there will be more.
