Marion Business Flooded Again

Updated: Thursday, April 18 2013, 10:23 PM EDT

A Downtown Marion business owner says a recent storm left him high and dry again.

"This has been the seventh time the store has flooded in the past three years," says Frank Nederostek.

In 2009, he saw good business potential at the corner of Garden and East Court Street.

But the high traffic area comes with a downside with every downpour. Friday, the rain damaged his business again.

"This all had to be replaced. We had to pull up all the linoleum," Nederostek says, giving us a tour of the store. "I'm embarrassed I don't even wanna show you this."

Frank wants the city to raise the curb around the store by just a few inches. He thinks that may keep the water from flooding his building.

Councilman Everette Clark points to what he describes as an "old and inadequate drainage system" that he thinks the city has to address.

But he also adds that finding funding won't be easy.
