Meth Lab Busts

Updated: Friday, February 28 2014, 08:13 AM EST
Meth is a growing problem in Polk County.

In just the last two months, there have been four meth lab busts. There was a total of eight all of last year in the county. Deputies found a shake and bake lab in the Green Creek community last week.

Some officials believe Green Creek's location along the state line may be to blame. They believe meth makers buy ingredients like pseudophedrine in South Carolina, then cross the border to buy more.

"They think by going across the state lines that it's not being tracked," said Lt. Brett Hooper with the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say the national NPLEx system lets them monitor pseudophedrine purchases in different states. That way they can follow anyone who appears to be buying it too often.Meth Lab Busts
