Multi-Vehicle Crash

Updated: Monday, April 1 2013, 04:58 PM EDT
Thick fog might be to blame for a series of car crashes this morning on two major interstates in Asheville.

The trouble began around 8:30am on I-26 near the Long Shoals exit.

In one of the wrecks, a car flipped on its roof briefly trapping the driver inside.

At least one person was taken to a hospital.

News 13 talked to a woman who helped rescue the man trapped in his car.

Ashley Hendrie, "there was about five car that just slammed into each other and all we could do was see smoke.  A lot of fog, a lot of smoke from the cars, the road was still damp. It was just not a good morning."

It took police and tow trucks over an hour to clear all the wrecks.
