North Asheville House Fire

Updated: Tuesday, December 11 2012, 04:12 PM EST
Two people escape a late night house fire Monday in North Asheville.

Asheville and Buncombe County fire crews responded to a home on Bassett Road, just off Beaverdam around 11:15 p.m. They found flames shooting out of the roof, and had to fight the fire from both the outside and inside, all the way from the first floor up to the attic. Officials say the couple noticed an electrical problem in the laundry room, then realized their home was burning. It took about 30 firefighters to get flames knocked-down.

It appears there's not much left of the home and officials say the Red Cross is assisting the two people who lived there.
