Obama To Visit Linamar
Updated: Tuesday, February 12 2013, 07:36 AM EST
Mayor Terry Bellamy says Asheville is the perfect city for President Obama to visit. On Wednesday, he will make his fourth appearance in Asheville to talk about the economy.
President Obama will be speaking at the Linamar Plant in Arden. Mayor Terry Bellamy says this plant is a prime example of how city, county and state leaders worked together to create jobs for this community. She believes the president can learn something while he's here.
The Linamar Plant is the site of a recent $125 million expansion to add 250 more jobs. That brings the total to 650. A spokesperson for the Canadian-based company tells News 13 workers from all shifts have been asked to be at the plant by 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The president is expected to discuss proposals unveiled in his State of the Union speech Tuesday night on strengthening the economy for the middle class.
Air Force One will touch down around 11:10 am. President Obama's visit is not open to the public, but News 13 will be there. You can watch his speech on News 13 at Noon. It will also be streamed live on wlos.com and mobile app.
