The president came to talk business, growing jobs and expanding the middle class. He chose Linamar Manufacturing plant to prove his point that progress is being made.
The president greeted a crowd of several hundred employees and local invited guests. He shared with them how the Volvo plant shut down in 2010, putting more than 200 people out of work. However, the plant is alive again and growing thanks to Linamar and a partnership with AB-Tech.
The president said as long as companies like Linamar and it's employees are fighting to grow jobs, he'll be fighting for them in Washington, D.C. He announced a goal of training 2 million Aamericans with skills that lead them directly to a job.
This is Barack Obama's fourth visit to Asheville. He talked about his love for the area, a personal testimony for 12 Bones and the possibility of settling here after his presidential career.
