Record Turnout At Biltmore Job Fair

Updated: Tuesday, February 25 2014, 07:09 PM EST
Cooks and service workers turn out in record numbers for jobs offered at the Biltmore Estate.

The food and beverage job fair ran from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Biltmore is looking to hire servers, hosts, banquet staff, and cooks for the five full-sized restaurants and snack bars it operates.

More than 70 applicants turned out for interviews and applications.

"I think today's turnout we would characterize as strong, for a single department event, just the focus being on food and beverage, and we're real pleased with what we're seeing so far, and hopefully we can make a lot of hires from today's event," said Scott McLean, Biltmore Workforce Manager.

McLean says Asheville has become a culinary destination and competition among restaurants is strong because of the variety of food specialties in the city.Record Turnout At Biltmore Job Fair
