Recycling Center Overflow

A combination of growing pains and extra holiday trash creates a messy situation at one Asheville recycling center.
Piles of trash have collected outside the Recycling Center in Woodfin. Nearby residents have been voicing their concerns. The center's president, Barry Lawson, says a project to upgrade the facility to handle more trash took longer than expected. In addition, a piece of equipment broke, slowing down the entire recycling process. Lawson says this was a rare event.
The owner says the upgrade is now complete and the break has been repaired. The plan is for employees to begin moving trash inside the facility Saturday and should have most of it out of view by the end of the weekend.
