This is the time of year when many look back on the past 12 months and hope for the best in the next 12 months.
So today, News 13 asked viewers to literally look at 2012 through their rear view mirror. While staring into their car mirrors, many told us about their roller coaster of a year.
"It was a year of ups and downs," said William McKelder. "I did lose my job but I got a new one. I think things are improving."
"2012 was good," says Sarah Wollet of Asheville. "I got a puppy and finished my masters. Things are good."
Some told us the year was marred by memories of the Sandy Hook School shooting. The fiscal cliff also weighed heavily on a couple of people we spoke to.
Despite concerns, this is the time of year when many find a sense of optimism for the 365 days ahead.
