Rescued Puppy Has Setback

Updated: Thursday, February 20 2014, 08:27 PM EST
A little puppy that was found last week during the snow storm may need another surgery.

"Pax" needed a life-saving surgery for a ruptured intestine after good samaritans dropped him off at the Asheville Humane Society. He's had the surgery, but he may need another. The Asheville Humane Society says scar tissue has formed and that his intestine needs to be stretched back out.

"It's not so much as a set back so much as a complication. And he definitely is no worse personality wise for the wear. He is definitely still proving to be a fighter and prove to have really good spirits about the whole thing," said Miranda Tipton.

There is a non-surgical option for Pax, which his caretakers will try first. If they don't see any improvements by Monday, he'll have to have surgery.

Pax is just one of many animals at the Asheville Humane Society receiving specialty care and volunteers say donations are always needed to help with those costs.Rescued Puppy Has Setback
