Updated: Monday, February 11 2013, 07:10 AM EST
It's Russ Bowen's last day at News 13. He's making the move to Seattle where he'll work as an anchor and reporter.
Mayor Terry Bellamy proclaimed this Friday "Russ Bowen Day." She also awarded him a key to the city.
"I've watched him over the years and really enjoyed his reporting," says viewer Brad Campbell of Fairview. "Wish him the best going out to the west coast."
"Very intelligent, easy to watch, I'm gonna miss him!" said Martha Plemmons of Asheville.
The proclamation salutes Russ for being a "dedicated and energetic source of news for our community."
He started at News 13 in 2000. Since then, Russ has won nine Southeast Regional Emmy Awards and four North Carolina Associated Press Awards.
