School Meal Bill

Updated: Tuesday, April 16 2013, 10:04 PM EDT

A bill being considered by the state legislature could help pay for free and reduced school lunches. The legislation would send money to school districts where more than 40 percent of the student population is eligible.

School boards could receive $7 per student under the so called Healthy High Performance Schools Act. It would also provide additional funds for breakfast and lunch programs that buy local.

The Healthy High Performance Schools Act is co-sponsored by Hendersonville Representative Chuck McGrady.
