2012 may be winding down, but shoppers are just getting started.
Year-end clearance sales have shoppers hitting stores with gift cards and Christmas cash in hand.
"It's a V-neck sweater I got it for 3 dollars at old navy," said Jessica Branson of West Asheville, proudly showing off her latest purchase.
"No one wants the inventory right before the first of the year," Billy Bradley of Black Mountain explains. "So they're getting rid of as much of their stock as they can. "
From "75 percent off" bargains to "buy one get one free" deals, customers are lured by retail signs that promise hefty savings.
The late December sales across the country may help stores recover from the Christmas shopping season, which some reports say was the worst in four years.
Shopper Louise Brosnan's advice is simple. "I would go out and get as much as you can."
